Position Overview
CT Technologists utilize their communication, patient care, and collaborative skills to interact with patients and other members of the imaging team. They use computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients’ internal organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately interpret a physician’s scanning instructions.
- Administer contrast materials as required.
- Prepare and operate the CT scan equipment.
- Position the patient to capture the appropriate images.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and CT principles to ensure safe and efficient imaging.
Essential Job Functions
- Take patient medical history before an exam (10%).
- Correctly interpret doctors’ written scanning instructions (10%).
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation (10%).
- Position patient on exam table using immobilization devices as needed (10%).
- Set technical parameters, operate CT scanners, and observe images during scans (30%).
- Evaluate CT scans for technical quality and repeat if necessary (10%).
- Inject contrast media as required (10%).
- Perform routine warm-up sequences on the CT scanner (10%).
Non-Essential Job Functions
- Stay up to date on developments and trends in CT imaging.
- Participate in educational programs and meet National/State continuing education requirements.
- Work collaboratively with Lead Technologist for smooth patient flow and scanner utilization.
- Oversee and instruct CT students within the department.
- Maintain adequate supply inventory.
- Perform daily visual inspections and ACR QA checks on scanner and components, reporting issues immediately.
Education & Certifications Required
- Graduate of a Radiologic Technology school.
- Florida Radiography License.
- ARRT Certification in Computed Tomography.
- Experience in Venipuncture.
- BLS Certification.
- Minimum 1 year of related experience.

Physical & Working Requirements
- Heavy lifting: up to 100 lbs. maximum, frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, stoop, lift, and walk without restrictions.
- Work Availability: PRN – flexibility to cover days, evenings, weekends as needed.
