Prostate MRI

Screening

Prostate MRI

The unfortunate fact remains that one in nine men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime.

A prostate MRI is typically a diagnostic exam, but it has also shown to be effective as a non-invasive screening tool.

It is expected that annual prostate MRIs will soon be the gold standard screening tool for prostate cancer, like mammograms are for breast cancer.

Prostate MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) uses a strong magnet and radio waves to create a detailed image of the prostate to accurately identify cancer;

  • Show how a tumor has changed, and
  • Detect if cancer has spread to other parts of the body.
  • Reveal other prostate issues, such as infections or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

We are proud to be home to Florida’s first GE SIGNA™ Premier AIR™ 3T MRI scanner which provides higher quality images in significantly faster scan times. With this MRI, located at our Gate Parkway location, we can perform Prostate MRIs in only 15 minutes.

Prostate Ultrasound

Screening

Prostate Ultrasound

  • Uses sound waves to create an image of the prostate and measure its size.
  • Images will show if the prostate is enlarged or if any tumors or calcifications are present.
  • Effective in monitoring prostate size as well as a tumor’s response to treatment.
Image-Guided Prostate Biopsy

Diagnostics

Image-Guided Prostate Biopsy

When an abnormality is found through a screening or diagnostic exam, your physician may order a prostate biopsy to examine a sample of the tissue to determine if cancer cells are present.

MRI-GUIDED BIOPSY

An MRI is used to help guide the radiologist’s instruments to the site of the abnormal growth so a tissue sample can be removed using a hollow needle.

ULTRASOUND-GUIDED BIOPSY

Using ultrasound, a needle is guided into a mass to remove small sample of the tissue.

Serious illness wont wait.
Neither do we.
